2019 MIP Nominee: Repair/Demolition Materials, Tools & Equipment

1 MIN READ

CorPlug is a precast concrete tool that effectively repairs cored holes in flooring systems. Electrical wiring is often routed through cored holes in floors and consequently in adjoining ceilings. This cored hole breaches the fire control aspects of the floor system.

Until the development of CorPlug, the only method of repair was to install a metal patch and pour a concrete mixture in the abandoned core. This requires access to the underside of the floor and significant labor to affix the metal patch. The work often needs to be completed after normal business hours for access and safety purposes. Building mechanical equipment can hinder this repair, increasing the cost and time involved.

Rather than resorting to haphazard repairs, CorPlug offers a simple solution. The product is easily installed from above, remains flush with the existing floor, and restores the fire retardant properties of the original floor system. Installation requires only a grinder and a caulking gun. Choose from eleven diameters ranging between 1 inch to 6 inches (including half sizes). All at a cost significantly less than required to restore the abandoned core using traditional approved procedures.
