Maximum efficiency, production
“The weather cooperated and we had no rain or equipment failure,” says Starha. “As projects go, it was very uneventful.”
Clearing was done in advance to prepare for the new road alignment. To ensure access for property owners, the culvert installation and new road alignment were completed before the existing structure was demolished.
Construction from start to finish was less than a month. County crews knocked out the culvert assembly within two days. The entire project, including permitting and design, was completed in two years.
Wheeler looks back on it as a major victory, and it’s virtually impossible to find anything to refute that claim. A decrepit, navigationally challenged structure has been transformed into a structurally sound, environmentally friendly, and aesthetically pleasing bridge. Not to mention, his team reduced the spending of county funds.
“We’ve had no negative comments, so that means it’s all good,” he says.
In the public sector, that’s code for a job well done.
