Floor restoration was complicated by the weather and the buildin… Floor restoration was complicated by the weather and the building’s cinder-block construction. Temperatures in White Bear Lake, Minn., were below zero; temperatures inside around 70 degrees. A two-component epoxy coating designed to control moisture-vapor emission rates was applied, allowed to touch-dry, and was ready for a topcoat within 12 to 15 hours.

To create a marbled metallic finish, crews mixed scarlet metallic powder into Penntek’s low-viscosity Metallic System epoxy and spread it by squeegee. They swirled the epoxy around to achieve a marbling effect, then swirled in splotches of darker red metallic epoxy before applying another layer of metallic epoxy. Final step: clear topcoat.
