Survey Suggests More Robust Remodeling Spending This Year

At least 38% of the more than 1,000 American homeowners surveyed in March for Principia Consulting said they expect to spend a little or a lot more on home improvements this year and next than they did in 2011. That’s in part because they have bigger projects in mind. Most notably, 7% plan on doing a deck construction or remodeling project in 2012 or 2013 while only 4% did the same in 2011. Principia thinks this stems from a delayed need to work on wooden decks that had been deteriorating.
