3Q Earnings Climb For Weyerhaeuser’s Wood Products Group

Segment sales jump 34% as company-wide profits slump

Rising lumber prices, controlled production capacity, and improved confidence in the housing market drove EBITDA for Weyerhaeuser’s wood products division to $92 million in the third quarter from a $10 million loss a year earlier on a 34% jump in sales to $834 million. The company reported increased year-over-year third-party revenues and production volumnes in all of its product categories (structural lumber, engineered solid section, engineered I-joists, OSB, and softwood plywood).
