Troutman facility is firm's second store in the region

Stock Building Supply has opened a new lumberyard in Troutman, N.C., its second in the Charlotte market, the company announced today.

The move by Stock, the ninth-largest company on the latest ProSales 100 list, to a city 35 miles north of Charlotte gives it access not only to the Carolinas’ biggest city but also to the Lake Norman resort area. Stock’s other Charlotte-area yard is in Rock Hill, S.C., just south of Charlotte.

The new lumberyard, design center, and showroom will occupy a facility that another ProSales 100 member, ProBuild, occupied until several years ago. Brian Poovey will run the location under the supervision of Dwayne Farrell, Stock’s general manager for the Charlotte market.

Stock recorded sales of $1.2 billion last year, 27% better than in 2012. As of the start of this year it had 70 locations and more than 3,000 employees, according to the ProSales 100 survey.
