Alexander Lumber, a lumber dealer with 20 yards across the U.S., today announced the hiring of Russ Kathrein as its new CEO. Kathrein, who comes from a senior vice president role at ProBuild, has spent more than 25 years in the building industry in held senior management positions at 84 Lumber and BMC West.

“We are excited to have Russ join our team,” says Alexander Lumber board chairman Watt Alexander. “His experience, track record of success, and dynamic leadership style make him the perfect person to drive the company forward.”

Kathrein, who starts his new position on Sept. 15, said, “It is my hope that, with the experiences I have had in my career, and the great people that I have had the opportunity to work with and train under, I can bring some new ideas and direction that will solidify Alexander Lumber’s reputation as one of the best companies to work for, and the best supplier to do business with.”
