US LBM Acquires A&C Supply

Deal expands US LBM’s footprint in the New Jersey market

US LBM announced today it acquired A&C Supply, a Delaware Valley, N.J., distributor.

A&C Supply’s employees, along with founder Fred Lindsay, will join Universal Supply Company, a subsidiary of US LBM.

Along with the acquisition, the dealer also announced the launch of new brand, “Universal Fasteners.”

“The formation of Universal Fasteners supports the US LBM strategy to diversify our specialty product categories and customer base. The experience and professionalism of the A&C team will fit seamlessly into the Universal Supply family,” said Jeff Umosella, COO of US LBM and president of Universal Supply. In an interview with ProSales, Umosella said late today that the use of the word “brand” shouldn’t be read as a sign that Universal is going to manufacture products or engage a private-label manufacturer. “We’re launching a brand to show our commitment to the product category,” Umosella said–in this case fasteners, tools, and hardware for all parts of home construction.

US LBM is No. 13 on the ProSales 100 list in 2014 and earned ProSales’ Dealer of the Year award for 2015.
