LBM’s Facility Openings and Closures in the Last Eight Years

We've tracked 2,600+ openings and closures. Are there any we have missed?

1 MIN READ

Since the Great Recession, we have tracked 1,928 lumberyard closures and 710 yard openings. In 2008, the first full year of the recession, we saw a jaw-dropping 591 closures, while there were only 29 openings that same year. It wasn’t until 2014 that LBM posted more openings than closures: 85 openings and 44 closures.

We keep a running record of the openings and closures through the years. For 2014 through this year, we’ve given each one its own point on this interactive map. Take a look and see what has been happening in your area the last two years. If you find an opening or closure we’ve missed, send the company name, location, and whether it was an opening or a closure to Marisa Mendez (mmendez@hanleywood.com) or leave it in the comments below.
