Hurricane Harvey hit landfall this weekend, causing historic flooding throughout southeast Texas. Already, certain areas have seen as much as 25 inches of rain, and another 15 to 25 inches could be on the way. As rain continues to fall, here’s how some LBM firms are faring in the area.
Zarsky Lumber, which operates eight locations in south Texas and the Gulf Coast, says its Port Aransas store will be closed until further notice. The location in Victoria had a delayed opening today, and the Corpus Christi location opened at normal hours.
McCoys Building Supply, which operates 86 locations across Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Mississippi, closed 11 locations today. The company also organized a recovery and support team in Corpus Christi this morning to help make sure the stores are operational and can provide relief services to local communities. The team will travel to all stores in the region when it is safe.
Elsewhere, Hardware Distribution Warehouses (HDW) says its Houston distribution center received no damage, but will stay closed as flood waters continue to rise.
“We are glad to report that all Houston employees and their families are safe” said Kenny Beauvais, president and CEO of Hardware Distribution. “However, several have lost their homes and suffered property loss.”
HDW’s distribution centers in Greenwood, Miss., and Shreveport, La., will begin shipping orders to Houston legacy dealers while the Houston location is closed.
