The Mountain States Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (MSLBMDA) will host a Women in Industry Leadership Roundtable on Oct. 2-3 in Colorado, just before the start of their joint fall conference on October 4-5 with the Mid America Lumbermens Association (MLA).
The conference is intended for women who are current or aspiring leaders in construction supply. It will feature roundtable discussions led by Jan Flynn, a professor of organizational development/communications at Georgia College and State University, as well as extensive networking opportunities. Attendees will seek define today’s leadership challenges, learn keys to professional growth and development, and study the inter-relationship between management, leadership, and power.
“We are going to use our expanding collective voice to impact change for not only for women in the LBM industry, but for the industry as a whole,” said Dena Cordova-Jack, MSLBMDA’s executive vice president and the conference’s organizer. “The purpose of coming together at the roundtable is not to focus on gender differences, but to promote career opportunities for women in the LBM industry, and to inspire current and future leaders.”
The conference continues a recent movement by LBM’s women leaders to find ways to connect with each other and promote opportunities for women in construction supply. Earlier this year, for instance, a Facebook page called Women of LBM was launched. It now has 82 members. In addition, ProSales ran a cover story on this issue last year and held a session on women in LBM at its ProSales 100 Conference last February.
The event will take place at the Omni Interlocken Hotel in Broomfield, Colo., west of Denver. It will run from Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 2, through to the next afternoon. To register, click here.
