The GX-IE is cordless fastening system for attaching rigid foam …
The GX-IE is cordless fastening system for attaching rigid foam (from 1” to 8” thick) to concrete. The system is comprised of a cordless battery / gas powered nailer and anchors specifically sized for the thickness of the rigid foam you’re attaching. Anchors are loaded manually one at a time onto the tool’s driver shaft. A masonry fastener is embedded within the plastic washer-looking device. A driver pin sets the anchor into the concrete when you pull the trigger. It’s available for concrete, though they are working on an option for steel as well. I inquired as to whether or not this would be available in a wood solution as well; they said they were looking into it as a possible option, though there aren’t plans for it currently. The nailer runs on a 12V battery which can fire up to 5,000 shots per charge. Gas cans can deliver up to 8,000 shots and are included in the purchase of fasteners.

Hilti hosted a media event last week which they called Hilti Innovation Day 2018. A large group of editors and Instagram influencers got to see the latest tools that Hilti is offering. The event started out with a high-level overview from near its headquarters last week. During that overview I spotted a sneak-peak of an embargoed tool announcement. Check out my Instagram feed here to learn what that tool was. Here’s a look at 8 of the highlights.
