Roofing, insulation, and building materials distributor Guardian Building Products announced the launch of its new name and corporate identity, Cameron Ashley Building Products.

The company will begin operating officially as Cameron Ashley Building Products on Feb. 1. The company website address and logo will be changed as part of the rebranding.

According to a news release from the company, the new name honors the company’s past, while pointing towards a future separate from its previous owner Guardian Industries.

“Over the last few decades, our identity has been tied strongly to our manufacturing past,” president and CEO Donny DeMarie said. “We saw an opportunity to leverage Cameron Ashley’s strong reputation as a distributor—which is who we are today. We’ll continue to build on our reputation of strong service, core products such as roofing, insulation, gypsum, decking, and siding, and a continued focus on our relationships – both customer and vendor.”

The brand originates with Scotsman William Cameron, who founded the Wm. Cameron Company in 1868 after settling in Missouri after the Civil War. The company moved to Waco, Texas in 1876 and at its height included more than 70 lumber yards across Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. During this period of expansion, Wm. Cameron Company acquired Ashley Aluminum and assumed the name Cameron Ashley Building Products. In 2000, Guardian Building Products purchased Cameron Ashley Building Products.

Based in Greer, S.C., the new Cameron Ashley Building Products has 29 distribution centers across 23 states nationwide.
