SRS Distribution joined forces with AAC Building Materials, a distributor of roofing products and accessories, siding, windows, doors, and other complementary products. The independently-owned AAC Building Materials, founded in 1959, operates a single location in Asheville, N.C.
Co-owners of AAC Building Materials Bob and Lori Harrison and the rest of the distributor’s team will remain with the company after the acquisition to run the operation and ensure continuity and consistency, according to the SRS news release.
“We are thrilled to be entering the Asheville market through our new partnership with AAC Building Materials.,” president and CEO of SRS Distribution Dan Tinker said in a public statement. “AAC will make an excellent addition to our Southeast region footprint and allow us to enhance our market coverage between our Knoxville, Greenville, and Charlotte branches.”
With the acquisition, SRS now has more than 250 locations across 44 states, operating under a family of 27 local brands. The distributor was the 9th largest company on the most recent ProSales 100, with sales in 2017 of $2.31 billion.
SRS—a portfolio company of Leonard Green & Partners and Berkshire Partners—has been growing through multiple channels recently. It opened three greenfield locations in October and an additional three locations in December. The McKinney, Texas-based distributor acquired roofing distributor Bill Wahl Supply in November and recently formed a subsidiary, Heritage Landscape Supply Group, which acquired two landscaping distributors.
