Lumber and building materials distributor American Construction Source (ACS) named Tom Tolleson as the company’s chief operating officer. Tolleson will report directly to CEO James Drexinger.

According to a news release from the company, Tolleson brings “decades of expertise” leading LBM organizations, developing lean operations, deploying sales and marketing programs, and identifying growth opportunities. Tolleson most recently served as the Midwest division president at ACS portfolio company Meek’s Lumber. Prior to joining Meek’s, Tolleson served in senior sales, marketing, and operations leadership roles at BMC Stock Holdings, Bison Building Materials, and Copeland Lumber Yards.

“Tom is well known and widely respected for his ability to expand opportunities within the current customer base, cultivate new customer targets, mobilize resources to achieve profitable growth, and foster lasting customer relationships through collaboration,” Drexinger said in a public statement. “ACS continues investing in experienced leaders from the building materials distribution industry to optimize the customer experience and performance of our business.”

Springfield, Mo.-based ACS, backed by private equity firms Angeles Equity Partners and Clearlake Capital Group, serves custom home builders, remodelers, and DIY customers. The distributor has over 70 locations across seven states. ACS was formed after purchasing Meek’s Lumber last September. The distributor quickly expanded, acquiring Edwards Building Center, Breckenridge Building Center, and Arrow Building Center within two months of its formation. The company ranked 14th on the 2019 ProSales 100 list.
