Hancock Lumber Expands Into Saco, Maine

The dealer broke ground at the future home of its 15th location.

Hancock Lumber has officially broke ground at the future home of its tenth lumberyard and kitchen design showroom, according to a news release from the dealer. The new location will be Hancock’s 15th overall location and add to the company’s existing network of lumberyards and kitchen design showrooms, eastern white pine sawmills, and truss and wall panel manufacturing facilities.

The Saco location will position Hancock to better serve its existing and prospective customers in southern Cumberland County and northern York County, Maine, according to the company. Hancock Lumber has covered the market from Scarborough, Maine, to Biddeford, Maine, for decades and it aims to improve access and deliveries to these markets with a permanent location in the area.

Hancock will bring a 3,000 square-foot kitchen showroom, a hardware store, a 30,000 square-foot lumberyard, and 30 jobs to the Saco community with the new branch. At the groundbreaking ceremony, Hancock announced it expects the facility to open in the summer of 2020.

Family-owned Hancock Lumber was established in 1848 and operates a timberland company, a sawmill division, and a network of lumberyards, kitchen design showrooms, and a truss and wall panel manufacturing facilities. The Casco, Maine-based dealer ranked 37th on the 2019 ProSales 100 list and generated $179.9 million in sales during 2018. Around 95% of the company’s sales are made directly to professional customers.
