84 Lumber

84 Lumber will open a 92,000-square-foot facility in Richmond, Va., in November to meet growing demand for the company’s services in the region. The facility will feature a traditional showroom and lumberyard, as well as a door shop and engineered wood products.

The location most recently was occupied by Cedar Creek, which was acquired by BlueLinx Holdings in March 2018. BlueLinx had a Richmond, Va., location prior its acquisition of Cedar Creek and in recent months has been selling facilities after integrating operations in overlap locations.

“We have really outgrown our current presence in Richmond and sought a new location that can better accommodate our operations and customers,” Maggie Hardy Knox, president of 84 Lumber, said in a news release. “Aside from offering essential materials to local builders and homeowners, the new facility will enable us to provide engineered wood products and other high-quality services.”

The new Richmond facility will consolidate two current 84 Lumber facilities—a 22,000 square-foot store and lumberyard and a 22,000-square-foot door shop—in the Richmond, Va., market. The dealer plans to sell the store and lumberyard and convert the door shop into a manufacturing facility for roof trusses, wall panels, and other components.

Eighty Four, Pa.-based 84 Lumber generated about $3.86 billion in sales during 2018. The company, ranked 4th on the 2019 ProSales 100, operates nearly 250 stores, component manufacturing plants, custom door shops, custom millwork shops, and engineering wood product centers in more than 30 states.
