Do It Best Corp. launched the Do It Best Foundation to distribute grants to organizations that align with the company’s giving pillars and generate the biggest impact in their communities.
The foundation will focus on four key areas of charitable giving: health and wellness, youth enrichment, the arts, and the community. This, according to the foundation, is an effort to ensure there are adequate resources to support the growth of healthy families; to encourage developmental, educational, and extracurricular activities for children; to support culture displayed through creativity; and to develop strong connections among citizens. The company said a committee is being created to review requests for funding.
“Do It Best has a long tradition of supporting local causes and agencies that are committed to serving the needs of others,” Dan Starr, president and CEO of Do it Best Corp., said in a news release. “We have been inspired to take that commitment to the next level with the formation of the Do It Best Foundation, where we look forward to offering even more support to community organizations and initiatives.”
Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Do It Best Corp. is a member-owned, fully integrated hardware, lumber, and building materials buying cooperative. The company generates annual sales nearing $4 billion and serves thousands of member-owned locations across the United States and internationally.
