Tal Sexton has been named manager of New River Valley Building Supply, owned by The Lester Group, in Christiansburg, Va. Sexton has 35 years of experience in the building materials field. The New River Valley location is scheduled to open in May.
Prior to joining The Lester Group, Sexton served as the store manager of Smith Mt. Lake Building Supply in Moneta, Va., and has experience opening two previous building supply stores. The New River Valley Building Supply store is creating 15 jobs, including sales, yard, and warehouse specialists.
“To open New River Valley Building Supply is a great opportunity,” Sexton said in a news release. “I’m building my own team and developing a unique culture. We’ll make the store a great success in meeting the needs of contractors and do-it-yourselfers.”
The New River Valley Building Supply store will have a 6,000 square foot showroom. Two buildings are under construction to ensure the new store’s inventory is covered and protected, according to The Lester Group. When completed, the location will have more than 41,000 square feet of warehouse and store buildings spread over five acres. The branch will offer lumber, plywood, engineered flooring, windows, doors, columns, decking, kitchen cabinets, molding, millwork, roofing, insulation, siding, tools, and hardware. New River Valley Building Supply will offer delivery, special orders, turnkey installation services, and blueprint takeoffs.
In its building supply division, The Lester Group operates retail stores in Martinsville, Va., Lynchburg, Va., Fredericksburg, Va., and Manassas, Va. The Lester Group is also involved in the manufacturing of treated lumber and doors, management of forest land, and real estate development in West Virginia, North Carolina, and Virginia.
