MI Windows and Doors is closing Milgard manufacturing facilities in Aurora, Co., and Grand Prairie, Texas, in response to weakened economic conditions brought on by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. MI said it remains committed to providing Milgard-branded products to customers in the Denver and broader Mountain West region from its manufacturing facilities in the western United States. While the Milgard brand will no longer be available in Texas, a full line of MI-branded products is available from the company’s facility in Flower Mound, Texas.

“A significant number of families are impacted by these decisions and we will do all we can to support them through the transition,” MI Windows and Doors CEO Matt DeSoto said in a public statement. “Unfortunately, it was no longer practical for the long-term health of our business to maintain operations in these locations. Through operational efficiencies at our other manufacturing locations we have ample capacity to meet the current and future needs of our customers.”

MI Windows and Doors entered an agreement to purchase Milgard Windows & Doors from Masco Corporation in October 2019, and the deal closed by the end of the calendar year. Founded in 1958, Milgard Windows & Doors offers a full line of vinyl, wood, fiberglass, and aluminum windows and patio doors for the professional market. The manufacturer has over 3,300 points of distribution across the United States. MI Windows and Doors has plants in Pennsylvania, Texas, and Arizona, and provides fenestration products for both the new construction and replacement markets.
