The US LBM Foundation, a nonprofit founded by specialty building materials distributor US LBM, donated $100,000 to the Meals on Wheels’ COVID-19 Response Fund, managed by Meals on Wheels America. The funds will support Meals of Wheels America’s effort to meet increased demand, with a focus on communities in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

“We’re proud to partner with Meals on Wheels and support the tremendous work they do to assist and support seniors, who are at the greatest risk from the pandemic,” US LBM Foundation chairman and US LBM president and CEO L.T. Gibson, said in a news release. “This public health crisis has reinforced how critical the efforts or organization like Meals on Wheels are, and we’re grateful to our supporters for providing us the resources to help during this time.”

Four in five Meals on Wheels programs are reporting that new meal requests have doubled since the beginning of March, when concerns over the coronavirus pandemic began to take hold. Meals on Wheels’ COVID-19 Response Fund, founded on March 16, allows local providers to replenish food and supplies and subsidize additional transportation and personnel costs and establish tech-based efforts to check on isolated seniors.

The US LBM Foundation has donated nearly $1 million to charitable organizations since its inception in 2013. Buffalo Grove, Ill.-based US LBM offers a comprehensive portfolio of specialty products, including windows, doors, millwork, wallboard, roofing, siding, engineered components, and cabinetry.
