The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) issued a call to action regarding the repeal of OSHA regulations for cranes and derricks used in construction. The association is asking members to reach out to local lawmakers.
According to the NLBMDA, the association has been working over the last several years to repeal OSHA’s 2016 Letter of Interpretation regarding the Crane and Derricks in Construction Standard exemption for material delivery. The NLBMDA said OSHA has been unresponsive to several formal requests to withdraw the letter.
NLBMDA engaged Congress for assistance with its cause and partnered with Rep. Ron Wright (R-TX) to send a letter to OSHA from the House of Representatives demanding they rescind the 2016 Letter of Interpretation. According to the NLBMDA, the letter is open for signatures and can be signed by any representative through July 17.
The letter is supported by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the NLBMDA’s federated state and regional associations.
