Kodiak Building Partners acquired Portsmouth, N.H.-based Ricci Lumber. Ricci Lumber, founded in 1957, serves the lumber and hardware needs of customers across New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. According to Kodiak, Ricci Lumber will join the Building Materials Group of Kodiak and will report to Pat Flood, the executive vice president of the building materials group.

Ricci Lumber president Eddie Hayes will remain in his role after the closing of the acquisition. Since becoming president in 1999, Hayes has built a state-of-the-art design center and expanded the entire Ricci operation with greater kitchen, flooring, and millwork options. Hayes and his wife Jeanne have chosen to be a part of the ownership group of Kodiak Building Partners, according to the company. Hayes said he was drawn to Kodiak because the company’s “family-like philosophy” mirrors the philosophy at Ricci Lumber.

“Eddie and his team will find that all of our companies share his perspective and align with that very [family-like] culture,” Kodiak president and CEO Steve Swinney said in a prepared statement. “We work hard and have high standards for how we operate, but we also play hard and have a great time together as like-minded partners and as an extended family.”

Ricci Lumber offers lumber, building materials, windows, doors, cabinets, counters, and appliances to builders, homeowners, and regional institutions.

Highland Ranch, Co.-based Kodiak Building Partners operates nearly 90 locations across Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
