Georgia dealer Griffin Lumber & Hardware acquired Baldwin Builders Supply, a LBM retailer in Milledgeville, Ga. The transaction is effective Sept. 27.

“Baldwin Builders Supply has an excellent reputation in the community. The company has also operated with a set of values that we like, admire, and feel is aligned with Griffin’s,” Griffin Lumber President CJ Griffin said in a prepared statement. “People matter at Baldwin and the company has high standards. When the opportunity to acquire this company arose, we quickly recognized that it would be a good long-term move that strengthened both companies.”

Baldwin Builders Supply is the sixth retail LBM location for Griffin Lumber, joining the company’s current locations in Cordele, Ga., Leesburg, Ga., Tifton, Ga., Forsyth, Ga., and Griffin, Ga.

“The people, products, and reputation of Baldwin Builders Supply have always been very important to us. When the opportunity to join the Griffin Lumber team presented itself, it quickly became evident that this was an excellent fit,” Baldwin Builders Supply CEO Ben Raley said. “Griffin Lumber has some unique marketing and manufacturing competencies that will further distinguish us from the competition in our geography. We could not be more confident in our future under Griffin’s leadership and look forward to overseeing a smooth transition.”

Griffin Lumber & Hardware was founded in 1948 and began milling logs to lumber in Cordele, Ga. Over the years, the company has added retail lumber and building materials to its portfolio. The company expanded in February 2019 with the acquisitions of retailer Blake Builders Supply and roof and floor truss manufacturer Specialty Structural Products and in June 2019 with the acquisition of retailer Dodd Builders Supply.
