Emily Vella Appointed President of NBMDA

The regional formica product manager for Atlantic Plywood served the past two years as president-elect of the organization.

Emily Vella, the regional formica product manager at Parksite subsidiary Atlantic Plywood, has been appointed as the president of the 2022 North American Building Materials Distributors Association (NBMDA).

“I am deeply honored to be recognized by my peers for the nomination. It’s an incredible privilege and I’m looking forward to bringing a new perspective to our industry,” Vella said. “Personal relationship building and developing new business contacts is at the heart of the NBMDA value proposition and we have some exciting initiatives planned for the next year.”

Vella’s role with the NBMDA will be to govern, establish policy, and make decisions about the future of the organization, ensuring that the board and staff stay focused on advancing their strategic objectives. Vella has previously served as the vice president of the NBMDA and served the past two years as president-elect due to the pandemic.

“We are proud to see Emily recognized for her integrity, decision making, and objectivity to serve such an important role in our industry,” Tony Millhouse, vice president of Parksite, said in a news release. “With Emily’s expertise and experience, she will continue to be a great asset to NBMDA in this leadership role.”

Atlantic Plywood is a wholesale supplier of hardwood plywood and panel products with 12 distribution locations in Connecticut, Georgia, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Illinois. The NBMDA is a trade association representing wholesale distributors of wood panels, surfacing materials, cabinet hardware, finishes, and related interior products. The organization’s membership is made up of distributors and suppliers serving independent building material and kitchen and bath dealers and production companies.
