TAL Holdings reached an agreement to acquire Midway Building Supply, which operates three stores in Tonasket, Oroville, and Republic, Wash.
“We could not be more excited to welcome Midway Building Supply to our family of brands,” Jason Blair, CEO of TAL Holdings, said in a news release. “Over the 64 years that Midway has been in business, they have continued to grow and support the communities they serve, fitting perfectly into TAL’s ‘helping build better communities’ model.”
Midway Building Supply first opened in 1958 as Midway Tile, a manufacturer of concrete well tile. The company’s founders, Myrtle and Don Wood, changed the direction of the company after buying their first load of lumber in 1965. Chris Wood, the third-generation owner of Midway Building Supply, joined in 1984 and began running the family business in 1988. Under Wood’s leadership, Midway expanded into Oroville in 1989, relocated its original Ellisforde location to Tonasket in 2001, and opened a third location in Republic in 2017. TAL Holdings said Wood will stay with Midway Building Supply and will “play an important role after the completion of the acquisition.”
“We feel like we found a partner in TAL who places the same emphasis on people and community as we do here at Midway,” Chris Wood said. “Joining forces with TAL will give our team more growth opportunities and allow us to broaden our reach and product offerings, allowing us to even better serve our customers.”
After a transition period, Midway Building Supply will begin operations as part of the TAL family of brands on February 28, 2022, maintaining their current brand name.
“This is a great acquisition for TAL,” Blair said. “The Midway team is a perfect addition as we continue to expand our footprint in the Pacific Northwest and strengthen our commanding presence in the north central Washington market.”
Vancouver, Wash.-based TAL Holdings operates 16 home improvement stores across the Pacific northwest. The company’s family of brands include Badger Building Center, Bayview Building Supply of Elma, Browne’s Home Center, Gerretsen Building Supply, Lake Chelan Building Supply, Marson and Marson Lumber, Mount Vernon Building Center, and Tum-A-Lum Lumber.
