The Home Depot is rolling out more than 125,000 new hdPhones, in collaboration with Zebra Technologies, HPE, and Aruba, to make it faster and more convenient for associates to serve customers. The hdPhone is a mobile in-store device dedicated to improving the customer and store associate experience, according to Home Depot.

“Our customers expect a frictionless experience, in our stores and on their mobile devices,” Fahim Siddiqui, executive vice president and chief information office of The Home Depot, said in a news release. “The enhanced digital in-store environment allows our customers to quickly get what they need to complete their projects with the help of a more connected associate.”

The new mobile devices allow for increased capabilities, including the ability for associates to communicate throughout the entire store and into the parking lots and advanced-range barcode scanning for product location and price checking. The mobile devices also feature docking with Zebra’s Workstation Connect, enabling associates to view and demo products and specifications on larger screens, helping customers find products to complete their products. Additional capabilities include multi-device integration, more efficient app speeds, in-store texting, and direct walkie talkie communication, according to The Home Depot.

The Home Depot began deploying hdPhones in June, reaching about 100 stores per week with plans to equip all U.S. stores by the end of the year.
