Barrette Outdoor Living broke ground at a site along the Brooksville Tampa Bay Regional Airport Rail Park, where the company will construct a 175,000 square foot PVC manufacturing plant. The plant will be dedicated to Barrette’s vinyl fencing and railing production.

The Brooksville plant is designed to handle PVC compounding as well as vinyl extrusion, fabrication, and product assembly. Expected to be completed by early 2023, the new plant will complement Barrette Outdoor Living’s existing 300,000 aluminum manufacturing and warehouse facilities located nearby.

The plan will also feature a PVC recycling center as part of the company’s GreenWays Recycling Program, according to Barrette Outdoor Living. The program works with customers to collect recyclable PVC materials that are then processed and used as substrate in Barrette Outdoor Living’s vinyl products. Once the facility is operational, Barrette Outdoor Living projects the Brooksville recycling center will process and reuse up to 40 million pounds of vinyl and PVC scrap material annually.

To further align with the company’s sustainability initiatives, the Brooksville plant has direct access to a CSX rail line to ensure the efficient delivery of raw materials from vendors and other Barrette Outdoor Living locations. According to the company, the direct-to-plant rail delivery eliminates the need for additional transportation methods and will help reduce the company’s carbon footprint. Additionally, energy efficient lighting and machinery will be installed throughout the plant and the company is considering the possibility of installing a rooftop solar array in 2024.

Barrette Outdoor Living is a manufacturer of fencing, railing, decking, and complementary outdoor products with 14 locations throughout North America.
