Kodiak Building Partners named Scott Morrison as the company’s first vice president of continuous improvement. In the role, Morrison will help develop Kodiak’s nationwide initiatives for eliminating waste and streamlining operations processes.
“We welcome Scott, with his passion for his work and his deep experience in the building materials distribution and manufacturing businesses,” Mark Garboski, chief operations officer at Kodiak Building Partners, said in a prepared statement. “As vice president of continuous improvement, Scott’s collaborative leadership style, results focus, and high standards for operational excellence will enable us to become more systematic, efficient, and successful in our production processes.”
Morrison brings more than 35 years of leadership, industrial engineering, operations, and consulting experience to the role with Kodiak. Morrison’s Scott Morrison Consulting business served as counsel for numerous building material companies. Additionally, Morrison has completed projects in ten Kodiak companies over the past 18 months, giving the new vice president a “unique understanding” of how to support and interact with Kodiak’s leadership team, according to the company.

“I am honored to join Kodiak as its first vice president of continuous improvement. In my previous experience working with Kodiak’s companies, I developed a deep appreciation for what makes the Kodiak family so special,” Morrison said. “Kodiak’s success has always been rooted in its commitment to local autonomy and holistic culture, and I believe the company has tremendous opportunities to capitalize on this foundation and innovate for the future while continuing these local legacies. I look forward to working with our local teams to enhance customer experiences and provide more capabilities to help these businesses sustain and grow.”
In the role, Morrison will develop and implement an overall continuous improvement strategy and support Kodiak’s operating companies’ efforts to improve their operations and productivity, customer service, and safety by engaging with the company’s operating presidents and their teams. Additionally, Morrison will identify, mentor, and develop continuous improvement-minded individuals across the country to further develop the Kodiak culture. Such work also includes the support of Kodiak’s recently launched back-office transformation efforts led by vice president and corporate controller Darius McCurty.
“Scott has tremendous depth and breadth of operations management experience with many local legacies in the industry, an innovative lens of what the future of operations looks like, and a compelling track record of delivering data-led solutions,” Steve Swinney, chief executive officer at Kodiak Building Partners, said. “Pairing his distinctive expertise with our national production and distribution capabilities allows us to think logistically about our value proposition.”
