Boise Cascade Company announced the retirement of Rich Viola, senior vice president of sales and marketing for the building materials distribution division, effective March 1, 2023. Nathan Sikes has been named sales and marketing director, replacing the retiring Viola.

Viola began his career in the industry with Furman Lumber in 1980. In 1999, Viola joined Boise Cascade when it acquired Furman Lumber, advancing through various sales and marketing roles during his tenure. In 2016, Viola was promoted to the role of senior vice president.
“Rich has provided significant impacts within our company and the industry for many decades,” Nate Jorgensen, CEO of Boise Cascade, said in a news release. “I want to thank him for his values-driven leadership and tireless dedication to our customers and suppliers. We all wish him the very best in his retirement.”

Sikes joined Boise Cascade in 2006 at the company’s Dallas branch. During his time with Boise Cascade, Sikes has advanced through several leadership roles, including branch manager and “was instrumental in launching the Dallas door shop” for the company, according to Boise Cascade. Most recently, Sikes served as the division’s southwest regional manager.

Nathan brings our values to life every day and has a proven record of success in every role he has held,” Jeff Strom, executive vice president, said. “I personally offer Rich my sincerest appreciation for his many contributions to BMD and the legacy of service he leaves with the building materials industry. I also want to congratulate Nathan on his new role and responsibilities.”
Boise-based Boise Cascade is a producer of engineered wood products and plywood as well as a wholesale distributor of building products.
