The 2017 ProSales 100 report to be released later this month once again shows there’s a strong relationship between housing starts and how ProSales 100 companies perform, but the two aren’t tied at the hip.
The collapse of new-home construction 10 years and recovery in this decade dragged dealer sales into and then out of the mud. And in 2016, dealers appear to be making gains that exceed any gains posted by home builders.
Sales for the PS100 totaled $49.36 billion in 2016. That’s 18.2% better than last year’s ProSales 100 members did, as well as 15.6% above what this year’s PS100 members said they did in 2016 vs. their own results in 2015.
Meanwhile, housing starts in climbed just 5.6% in 2016 to reach an estimated 1,173,800.
