Once again, ProSales is seeking four future leaders of LBM. This year, we’re pleased to announce we’ve partnered with Dealers Choice to bestow this great honor.

The annual Four Under 40 competition chooses four individuals under age 40 who represent the next generation of LBM’s forerunners. These young women and men have learned business best practices and about the industry from their experienced peers. They have brought fresh takes to old ideas and are taking initiatives to make the company better. Now, it’s time for you to identify these future leaders by nominating them for the ProSales/Dealers Choice Four Under 40.
Winners will be profiled in our January 2018 issue. They will also get a free trip to the 2018 ProSales 100 Conference, where they will speak as part of a panel on next-generation leaders. The annual ProSales 100 Conference—which will be held in San Antonio Feb. 28 – March 2, 2018 — provides an unmatched opportunity for tomorrow’s potential leaders to meet today’s top executives. Our formal sessions and casual social activities make it possible for smart, talented younger people to learn what it takes to manage a top-level LBM organization today.
Ready to nominate? Here’s what you need to know:
Round One: Nominations
Any manager at a building material supply dealer, as well as any industry consultant, is invited to nominate a candidate. There’s no limit on the number of candidates from a company that can be nominated, but if all are selected, all must be able to attend the ProSales 100 conference.
Candidates must
- Work at a lumberyard, specialty building material dealer, or a distributor
- Be born in January 1978 or later
- Be able to attend the ProSales 100 conference; do not nominate a candidate who will be unable to attend
To nominate someone, you must
- Fill out the Google form below indicating the candidate’s name, current title, work location, and and birth date.
- Tell us why, in your opinion, this candidate has the potential to be an executive within the LBM industry. Give examples of leadership potential.
- Indicate the potential career path you see for this candidate. This path need not always be at your company.

Round Two: Essay Applications
ProSales staff will inform each candidate that she or he has been nominated for the Four Under 40. If the nominee chooses to pursue this honor, they must
- Write an essay of no more than 400 words. The essay must detail what the nominee has learned in LBM to date, what their career goals are, and what they’d most like to get out of attending the ProSales 100 Conference.
- Email the essay to Marisa Mendez at mmendez@hanleywood.com by Friday, October 6
PROSALES staff will select and notify the winners in mid-October.
