From Henry Poor Lumber Co. in Lafayette, Ind., comes P-nut, a 5-year-old Cheapeake Bay Retriever. “He has been a member of the team since he was a 9-month-old pup,” reports Tammy Siemers, a marketing officer at Henry Poor. “P-nut is often found helping the yard staff remove lumber wrappers from full units of lumber, greeting drive-thru customers and picking up trash around the yard (or having too much fun playing with it).
During the Dog Days of summer, P-nut beats the heat by working the sales counter and greeting/entertaining walk-in customers, Siemers says. She adds: “He thinks he is the watchdog, but if you have a pocket full of milk bones the lumber yard is yours for the taking.”
