“What things?” Chris asked.

“Just things.”

Chris finally gave up and turned to me for help.

At first I couldn’t do any better. I’d call for Ed and I’d get Edith.

“Ed said—.”

“Things, I know,” I said, cutting her off.

“Oh you heard?”

I offered to meet Ed at the job.

“Ed said that’s not necessary,” Edith told me.

I offered to send a manufacturer’s representative to the jobsite.
