“That’s what Alan specified,” I told him, reading the profile numbers from our contract.

The profile was not what the Smiths expected, but they were OK with it. After all, Alan specified it.

Then there were some calls about the windows.

“The kitchen window doesn’t fit,” the contractor told me.

I checked the paperwork. We had a confirmation calling out all window sizes and locations, signed by Alan. The contractor ordered another window and said he would take it up with the Smiths.

Finally there was the gut-wrenching message from Mrs. Smith herself, relaying that the custom cabinets we ordered for the library were the wrong finish.

We reviewed the shipped material against the confirmations.

“Who signed the confirmation?” an angry Mrs. Smith asked.

I felt like a broken record. “Alan.”

I was starting to wonder where the “Precision” was in “Precision Projects.”
