Allied Building Stores Announces New President

Dealer-owned co-op appoints current COO and former local manufacturing exec

Allied Building Stores’ chairman Bob Barnes Wednesday announced the appointment of Dale E. Mercer as the co-op’s president effective January 1, 2013. Current president David E. Stiles, who has been with the company for 16 years, will serve as president through the end of the year.

Mercer joined the Monroe, La.-based dealer-owned building materials buying group in October 2008 and most recently served as its chief operating officer. Before coming to ABS, Mercer was the vice president of manufacturing at Bancroft Bag’s West Monroe, La., facility.

ABS serves dealers in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas.
