Builders FirstSource today announced plans to open a distribution center in Clarksville, Tenn., following last months’ notice of a new distribution center in Jarrell, Texas. The company has closed 28 locations since 2008, none of which were in Clarksville. During that time the company opened lumberyards in Riviera Beach, Fla., and Manassas, Va.

The new facility, located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, is slated to open in early June and will serve as the primary distribution point for the fast-growing northern Tennessee and southern Kentucky markets. Its five-acre lot will include 25,000 square feet of warehouse space stocking structural and related building products including lumber, engineered I-joists systems, roof and floor trusses, windows, doors, and millwork.

The Dallas-based building materials dealer ranks eighth on the 2012 ProSales 100 listing, with $779 million in sales to pros last year. For the first quarter, ended March 31, the company reported a loss from continuing operations of $19.1 million on sales of $219.4 million, compared with a loss of $21.1 million on sales of $162.8 million a year ago. The company has 53 distribution centers and 44 manufacturing facilities across nine states.
