GMS Appoints Scott Deakin as CFO

Deakin brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in public and private organizations.

Specialty distributor Gypsum Management & Supply (GMS) appointed Scott Deakin as the company’s vice president and chief financial officer (CFO), effective October 21, 2019. Lynn Ross, who served as the company’s interim CFO, will continue in her role as chief accounting officer and corporate controller.

“GMS has an energized team and tremendous opportunity ahead. I am excited to join as CFO at this important time in the company’s evolution,” Deakin said in a company news release. “I look forward to drawing on my leadership experience as we focus on advancing the company’s next phase of growth and success.”

Deakin has more than 25 years of leadership experience at both public and private organizations. He most recently served as the president of the Thermal Acoustical Solutions segment of Lydall, a publicly-traded global manufacturer of specialty engineered products. In this role, Deakin led strategy development and was accountable for the segment’s profitable operations. Deakin also previously served as the executive vice president and CFO of Lydall, executive vice president and CFO of Ensign-Bickford Industries, senior vice president of corporate development at Barnes Group, and various operating and finance roles with the Eaton Corporation.

Tucker, Ga.-based GMS operates a network of more than 245 distribution centers across the United States and Canada. The company ranked 8th on the 2019 ProSales 100. It its most recently earnings report, the distributor reported net sales rose 24.1% compared to the previous fiscal year.
