Hammond Lumber Names Mike Hammond its New President, CEO

Third generation of Hammonds takes over at ProSales 100's No. 36 firm

Hammond Lumber of Belgrade, Maine, the No. 35 company on the ProSales 100, announced today the appointment of Mike Hammond as president and CEO. Mike succeeds his father, Don Hammond, who has run the company since 1997. Mike had been a vice president of Hammond Lumber for 20 years. Don now will move into a VP role.

With the move, Mike becomes the third generation of the Hammond family to run the company, which was founded in 1953 by his grandparents, Clifton “Skip” Hammond and Verna Hammond.

Hammond is the biggest Maine-based company on the ProSales 100, with 13 branches, 460 employees, and $145 million in sales in 2015, 90% of it to pros. According to Hammond’s news release on Mike’s appointment, the company’s sales rose to $161 million in 2016.

“I’m eager to continue investing in Hammond Lumber Co’s long-term growth and vitality,” Mike said in the news release. “Today, my father, Don, is in great health and has no immediate plans to retire. Ultimately, our success as a company isn’t about one person, it is about our hard-working employees who provide great personalized services to customers.”
