L&W Supply, the No. 7 company on the latest ProSales 100, saw its operating profit quadruple to $4 million in the first quarter from the year-earlier period on an 11.3% rise in net sales to $334 million, L&W’s parent, USG Corp., announced today.

USG’s quarterly earnings release didn’t say anything more about L&W. Instead, the company focused on its overall 15% rise in operating profit to $76 million on a 7% gain in net sales to $909 million. Being able to sustain a price increase in wallboard prices was one reason why, the Chicago-based company said.

L&W has more than 2,200 employees at 146 branches in 36 states.
