L&W Supply Sales and Profit Up in Q3

The distributor posted positive numbers as part of USG's Q3 earnings report.

The distribution arm of USG, L&W Supply, posted an increase in net sales of $19 million up to $378 million and an increase in operating profit of $5 million up to $9 million during its third quarter earnings report Thursday morning..

Same store net sales also increased 5% compared to sales from the year ago period.

L&W attributes the increase in operating profit to the increased volume and margin of gypsum wallboard, 3% and 7% respectively. Gypsum wallboard posted an increased gross profit of $6 million during the three month period.

L&W also posted an increased cost of $3 million for selling and administrative expenses and an additional $2 million in delivery expenses due to higher sales.

L&W currently operates 144 distribution branches in the U.S., having closed two branches during the third quarter.
