To all his endeavors, Hylbert provides his time equally and without hesitancy, even when the weather puts a dent in his schedule. “The risk in public service for me has always been the possibility of getting over-involved and trying to do too much,” he says. “But I look at guys like Jeff Kemp who have dedicated their lives to such worthy causes and are doing a lot more than I am doing. So in the end, it’s hard for me to ever say no.”

Paul Hylbert, president and CEO, Redmond, Wash.–based Lanoga Corp.

Service Highlights: Homebuilding Community Foundation board member, Harvard University Joint Center for Housing Studies advisory board member, Zion Preparatory Academy, Denison University, Families Northwest, Washington roundtable

Mentors: Family, Jeff Kemp, Fenton Hord

Public Service Philosophy: “People want to be associated with a company that is doing more than just generating profits—they want to be part of a company that has an overall broad and balanced perspective. Give back when you are doing well, and encourage more giving by getting the word out.”
