Building materials distributor American Construction Source (ACS) has acquired two-unit Tanco Lumber. Tanco will continue to operate under its existing local brand name from its stores in Branson West, Mo., and Forsyth, Mo. The deal is the tenth completed by ACS under the sponsorship of Angeles Equity Partners and Clearlake Capital Group.

“ACS welcomes Tanco to our platform of service-oriented lumber and building materials locations,” ACS CEO James Drexinger said in a prepared statement. “The Tanco team has built a great business, and we respect the customer relationships they have fostered in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas for more than two decades.”

The Tanco announcement comes less than a month after US LBM’s announcement that it was acquiring ACS. The US LBM-ACS deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2021.

“We are confident ACS is the best partner to help accelerate growth by delivering more value-added products and an expanded portfolio of services to local builders, contractors, and residents of the Branson Tri-Lakes area,” Tanco owners John and Carla Stauffer said. “The ACS technology investments and national scale will enable Tanco to better serve our customers for generations to come.”

Tanco Lumber offers hardware, tools, drywall, insulation, I-joist flooring systems, windows, doors, fasteners, stock power tools, air tools, and farm supplies.

ACS, backed by private equity firms Angeles Equity Partners and Clearlake Capital Group, was formed after purchasing Meek’s Lumber and quickly expanded with the acquisitions of Edwards Building Center, Breceknridge Building Center, and Arrow Building Center in late 2018. The distributor acquired Freeborn Lumber Company in June 2019, Contractor’s Truss Systems in September 2019, Homewood Holdings in February of 2020, and Weaver Lumber in July 2020. In March, the company expanded and upgraded several Homewood operations in the Sacramento, Calif., metro market. ACS operates over 70 locations across nine states serving custom builders, repair and remodel contractors, and DIY customers.
