Drexel Building Supply is acquiring the assets of Blenker Building Systems from Amherst, Wis.-based Blenker Companies. Blenker Building Systems will now operate as Drexel Systems, which will be combined with Drexel’s former Truss Systems operations in Little Chute, Wis.

The new operations will focus on efficient, off-site construction solutions. Drexel Systems said it plans to offer solutions to take a home from footing to roof in four days rather than 15 days through traditional methods. The company stated the process of construction can be more efficient in a factory setting, which offers a controlled environment and minimizes waste.

“For Drexel Building Supply it is taking our framing and lumber packages far ahead of our competition,” Drexel Building Supply president Joel Fleischman said in a video announcing the deal. “It won’t be for every builder, and that’s awesome, nothing we do changes, but if they want to be part of offsite construction, they now can do it with us.”

Blenker Companies will continue to own and operate its construction division, Blenker Construction, moving forward. The acquisition is expected to be completed April 30, 2020.

Blenker president Jason Blenker will remain with the operation and lead Drexel Systems, while Fleischman will serve as president of Drexel Systems. Following the completion of the deal, Blenker Building Systems employees will become Drexel employees.

“This is not to compete with the local builder, small or large, but to help them,” Blenker said. “Shortage of skilled labor is such a huge part of our building economy now. Offsite construction doesn’t solve everything but it’s a huge step in that direction. It’s exciting to provide another solution for our builders.”

Drexel Building Supply recently announced it will expand with the addition of its ninth overall location in New Berlin, Wis. The location will include a 25,000 square-foot office and showroom along with multiple buildings totalling 128,000 square feet.

Campbellsport, Wis.-based Drexel Building Supply ranked 38th on the 2019 ProSales 100 list, generating $179.9 million in revenue in 2019, including 95% of sales from pros.
