Fortune Brands Home & Hardware of Maumee, Ohio, announced it will merge its Fypon millwork brand into its Therma-Tru Doors business. Fypon’s brand will remain, but Therma-Tru’s sales team will be largely responsible for marketing the product.

“The integration will result in significant cost efficiencies and sales synergies in a persistently challenging residential housing market,” Fortune Brands said in a statement issued late Sept. 29. It also quoted Fypon president Tom Riscilias saying the merger “offers the best opportunity to grow the Fypon brand. … We believe Fypon has a great future ahead as part of the Therma-Tru family.”

“Many” of Fypon’s corporate departments, based in Archbold, Ohio, will be integrated within Therma-Tru and will relocate to either Therma-Tru’s operations in Maumee or its manufacturing facility in Butler, Ind., Fortune Brand’s statement said. Fypon’s Archbold facility will continue to operate and the brand’s customer service team will remain in Archbold. Integration should be complete by March 31, 2010.

Fypon produces molding from composites materials. Therma-Tru bills itself as America’s biggest manufacturer of fiberglass and steel exterior door systems.
