Gulfeagle Supply, a roofing, drywall, and siding specialist with more than 70 branches nationwide, has purchased Kimal Lumber, a lumber-oriented dealer located in four cities in Southwest Florida.

Kimal will retain its brand name and employees, Gulfeagle president Jim Resch told ProSales today. Kimal founder Al Bavry will stay on as president emeritus.

Founded in 1981, Kimal has lumberyards in Nokomis, Englewood, and Sarasota, Fla.; a window and door shop and an engineered wood products facility in Venice, Fla.; and a sales and design center in Nokomis. It finished just outside this year’s ProSales 100, coming in 104th with $47.4 million in sales during 2017, 80% of it to pros.

Resch founded Tampa, Fla.-based Gulfeagle in 1973. It has grown over the years through both greenfield start-ups and acquisitions.

“We’re very heavy in the roofing segment; we wanted to spread our wings a little bit into other products,” Resch said. “This opportunity that came along is a good one.”
