Hardwoods Distribution, through its subsidiary Hardwoods Specialty Products, purchased the assets of Far West Plywood for a value of $3.6 million, according to a news release.

Far West is a Northridge, Calif.-based single-unit wholesale distributor of architectural building products to customers that fabricate end-products to the residential, commercial, industrial, retail, and institution construction markets. The distributor has estimated annual sales of $12 million.

Far West will operate under the Hardwoods banner going forward, according to the release. Hardwoods Distribution, based in Langley, British Columbia, distributes architectural grade building products to the residential and commercial construction markets.

“The addition of Far West represents a contiguous expansion of our current Southern California operations and provides additional size and scale in an attractive growth market,” Hardwoods Distribution President and CEO Rob Brown said in a public statement. “The transaction represents an appealing strategic fit of complimentary product lines with minimal customer overlap.”

The Canadian distributor has completed eight acquisitions in the past eight years, adding over $565 million in annual sales to the company. Hardwoods Distribution operates a network of 62 distribution centers across North America operating under the Hardwoods Specialty Products, Frank Paxton Lumber Company, and Rugby Architectural Building Products brands.
