SRS Distribution acquired eight-unit Wimsatt Building Materials, a distributor of residential and commercial roofing, siding, windows and doors, and other related products. Terms of the deal were not publicly disclosed.
“We could not be more excited to announce our new partnership with Wimsatt,” Dan Tinker, president and CEO of SRS Distribution, said in a prepared statement. “The company is the preeminent distributor in Michigan and one of the most respected independents in the industry. We have admired their business over the years and I am very excited for what we can now accomplish together.”
Wayne, Mich.-based Wimsatt Building Materials was founded in 1936 and is currently run by Bob Hoffman and his sons Rob and Charlie Hoffman. The company operates locations across Michigan and Ohio. Post acquisition Charlie Hoffman will continue to lead the company’s team under the Wimsatt brand name to ensure continuity and consistency for customers, suppliers, and employees, according to SRS.
“My family and I have spent most of our lives building Wimsatt’s brand, reputation, and culture and I have always prided myself on being an independent distributor,” Bob Hoffman, Wimsatt CEO and owner, said. “As such, this was not a decision we took lightly. After contemplating the future and the legacy of the business, we concluded that now was the right time to find a new growth partner. We are confident that Wimsatt and its people will continue to prosper under SRS’ ownership.”
