Talbert Building Supply, an independent, family-owned lumber and building materials dealer based in North Carolina, announced plans to acquire Clemmons, N.C.-based Poindexter Lumber Company. The acquired Poindexter facility represents the fifth Talbert brand locations, joining locations in Roxboro, N.C., Durham, N.C., Asheboro, N.C., and Clarksville, Va. The deal is expected to close on November 15.

“We are grateful to join with another independent dealer to serve our customers, communities, and teams,” Talbert Building Supply founder and CEO Danny Talbert said in a prepared statement. “I appreciate the trust Tom and Chris [Poindexter] have placed in us to continue their tradition of quality service and value. They have a wonderful business, a dedicated team, and an incredible facility from which to operate. We look forward to honoring their family’s contributions to the industry and surrounding communities by welcoming the Poindexter team to Talbert and working together to deliver an exceptional customer experience.”

Poindexter Lumber Company, founded in 1926, is a fourth-generation lumber and building materials dealer servicing custom builders, remodelers, and retail customers in the greater Winston Salem market. The company is led by third- and fourth-generation owner-operators Tom and Chris Poindexter. According to Talbert, Tom and Chris will continue in essential transition and leadership roles as consultant and general manager, respectively.

“We are excited to join the well-established group at Talbert Building Supply,” Tom Poindexter, president of Poindexter Lumber Company, said in a news release. “Their business model is a well-suited fit to continue what our family has established over the past 95 years, and we are thankful for this opportunity.”
