Building products distributor U.S. Lumber Group is acquiring Mid-State Lumber Corp., a regional wholesaler of building products based in Branchburg, N.J. The transaction will combine the two companies with an expanded offering of products and services for dealers across New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, and New England. Terms of the deal were not publicly disclosed.
“Mid-State Lumber is a terrific addition to U.S. Lumber,” Specialty Building Products president and CEO Jeff McLendon said in a news release. “It is the leading specialty products distributor in its markets, with a loyal following of customers built over multiple generations of family ownership.”
Mid-State Lumber will continue to operate under its brand name and with its current leadership group, which includes Ken Bernstein, David Bernstein, and Gary Bernstein.

U.S. Lumber is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Specialty Building Products and is headquartered in Atlanta. Specialty Building Products’ brands include U.S. Lumber, Alexandria Moulding, and Midwest Lumber. After the acquisition, U.S. Lumber now operates 10 branches on the east coast, serving 21 states.
